POSITION OVERVIEW The Dockhand is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all waterfront customers.
The Dockhand ensures proper fueling technique, instruction of all rental crafts, prioritizes safety for staff and customers, and continuously improves the waterfront department.
With the proper execution of these tasks and more, the Dockhand will ultimately leave all customers with the desire to return to Tommy's Boats.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Properly gas all boats that come to the gas dock/rental dock/gas station, with little to no spillage Responsible for ensuring customer and Tommy's owned boats are properly tied to the dock with no rubbing or potential for damage (for locations with shoppers/fuel dock/rental dock) Spin all boats with the use of lines on all docks so the bow is facing out Run to all boats coming in or out of the dock/launch to ensure customers get proper assistance at their departure/arrival Perform accurate gas/rental charges into CounterPoint and receive signature on ALL receipts Honestly report all tips and place them into the tip pool at the end of each shift Greet all customers with a smile and a hello.
Initiate conversation with all customers to ensure customers feel welcome and appreciated Understand and properly inform customers of the rental department basics, such as what we rent, how to rent, pricing, etc.
As assigned by supervisor, ability to properly answer the telephone, take rental deposits, and accurately place customers on the rental calendar, following up with a confirmation email As assigned by supervisor, assist rental customers with filling out the rental contract, instructing on proper rental craft use, safety requirements, areas to avoid on the lake, etc.
Where permitted, responsible for cleanliness of the waterfront area.
Expected to clean up after oneself, keep workspace organized and presentable for customers Where permitted, load and unload boats off and on trailers into and out of water Responsible for assisting in daily rental boat cleanliness with the use of Hot Sauce, wax, Windex, upholstery cleaner, etc.
Responsible for uncovering/covering all rental boats daily Responsible for understanding and instructing customers of the rental boat damage policy and reporting any damages to the Rental Manager immediately Responsible for knowing the basics of other departments within Tommy's Boats in order to answer customer questions.
For example, what the pro shop sells, who the boat salesman is, do we offer service, etc.
Communicate to Rental Manager any unhappy customers, accidents, or other occurrences that require the manager's knowledge/action Expected to stay busy at ALL times during shift, consistently finding tasks to do Ability to provide customers with 2 stroke oil, understanding the ratio, and accurately/safety mix the fuel and oil for the customer (for locations with fuel dock) Any other requests by supervisor QUALIFICATIONS Swimming:
Ability to swim and tread water required Computer Skills:
Knowledge of CounterPoint and Microsoft Excel preferred Boater's License:
Valid boater's license preferred CPR:
CPR certified preferred Trailering:
Ability to properly trailer and launch wake boats and pontoons preferred Watersports:
Knowledge and experience with boats and watersports preferred Gassing:
Ability to efficiently gas all types of boats without spillage or overflow Communication:
Interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel; communicate information clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Safety:
Be knowledgeable of and uphold all laws and regulations; understand that the dockhand is responsible for the safety of everyone on the dock/gas dock Humility:
